GOVERNING BODY OF HIGHGATE SCHOOL

Five Governors are nominated by the Lord Chief Justice, the Bishop of London and Universities of Oxford, Cambridge and London; others are co-opted. Since the 19th century, the maximum size of the Governing Body has been twelve members. Eight of the current Governors live in or near Highgate.

J F MILLS, CBE, MA, BLitt

Nominated by the University of Oxford
John Mills (OC) is a civil servant who has held senior posts in the Department of Trade & Industry, the Hong Kong Government, the Prime Minister's Office and the Office of Fair Trading. His current position is Director of Rural Policy in DEFRA. During a decade during which he left the Civil Service, he was Chief Executive of Cornwall County Council and then of the Policy & Resources Department of the States of Jersey.

Bob Rothenberg (OC) was a Highgate parent and is the senior partner in Blick Rothenberg, chartered accountants.

Nominated by the University of Cambridge
Jonathan Hill (OC) was John Major's political secretary and runs a political and public relations consultancy.

Jean Carr was a founding partner in SRU, a business consultancy.

Michael Lawson is the Archdeacon of Hampstead and his daughter was a Sixth Form student at the School.

Dr Colin Diggory is Headmaster of Alleyn's School, London SE22 and was formerly Headmaster of Latymer Upper School, London W6.

Paul Marshall (OC) is a local resident and chartered surveyor, who has for many years run his own successful property business.

Dr K LITTLE, MB, BS, BSc

Kate Little is a local GP (as Dr Jolowicz) and has a son at the School.

Nominated by the Lord Chief Justice of England & Wales
Rachel Langdale is a barrister who lives in Highgate and has two children at the School, one at the Pre-Prep and one in the Junior School.

MG CLARKE, MA, FCA
Mr Clarke is Director-General for Finance & Strategy at the Department for Business Enterprise & Regulatory Reform (DBERR) and has previously held senior posts at Abbey, Barclays and Price Waterhouse Coopers. Mr Clarke has a son at the school.

Nominated by the University of London
Brian Davidson is Professor of Surgery at the Royal Free Hospital and has three children at the School, two in the Senior School and one in the Junior School.

Sean McGeeney is also the School Bursar.

Governors meet six or seven times a year.
There are also when required Finance and General Purposes, Estates and Development Committees.
