Highgate is a large school with excellent resources which enable
us to offer a wide variety of activities in and out of the classroom.
The Governors of the School make it their business to ensure
that our staff have the equipment and other resources they need.
With over 125 teachers and 150 support staff dedicated to helping
pupils we have the capability to provide specialist teaching
in all our subjects, from the early years in the Pre-Prep to
university entrance in the Senior School. We seek to appoint
teachers who have high expectations, expert knowledge, engaging
personalities, a sense of fun and the ability to connect and
communicate with our pupils: those who are caring, interesting
and interested.
To support the work of teachers we have a range of support staff,
including Classroom Assistants, Early Years practicioners, Technicians, IT and Media experts,
Librarians, grounds, catering, security and maintenance staff,
medical staff, sports coaches and visiting musicians.
We use Information
Technology for teaching, learning and administration. We have
a campus-wide network and communications
systems, provide all teachers with laptops and the training
to use them, offer extensive pupil access to IT, interactive whiteboards in most classrooms and a sophisticated
database for school management. Where someone champions innovation we encourage
them to pursue it; for example, in the use of remote telescopes
for the teaching of cosmology or the use of real-time market
information to sharpen learning in Economics or the introduction
of dance workshops. We recognise that the momentum of a school
cannot be taken for granted, that priorities are dynamic and
need to be actively pursued.
All of our staff have at the forefront of
their minds the desire to provide the best
education we can for your son or daughter.
We seek to provide a stimulating, safe environment
that achieves the highest possible standards
and we intend to keep improving. |
