The Highgate Foundation
Highgate is three schools in one. The Pre-Preparatory School (ages 3-7) the Junior School (ages 7-11), each with its own Principal, and the Senior School (ages 11-18). Each school is closely integrated into one Foundation and a welcoming community under the direction of the Head Master, Mr Adam Pettitt. Highgate is an academically-selective school which values learning and scholarship, promotes service to others and puts a premium on the co-curricular life of the school.
The Pre-Preparatory School is led by its Principal, Mrs Diane Hecht. Pupils in the Nursery and Reception classes and Years 1 and 2 attend this part of the school, based in Bishopswood Road.
The Principal of the Junior School is Mr Mark James. The Junior School premises are also in Bishopswood Road, and it caters for pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.
Most classes in the Senior School take place on the ‘hilltop’ site on North Road, though pupils also have lessons in Art and Design Technology in the Mills Centre in Bishopswood Road; the sports facilities and the dining hall are also on the Bishopswood Road site. The Head Master of the Foundation is also Head Master of the Senior School.
All years in the Foundation are fully coeducational marking the successful transition since 2003, when the first girls entered the Junior and Senior Schools.
