The Friends of Highgate School Society

The Friends are a registered charity, Charity Commission number 1056624. Founded in 1945 we celebrated our sixtieth anniversary in 2005. Our main objects are:

  • To provide financial assistance to enable pupils to start or continue their education at Highgate or to participate in worthwhile educational visits.
  • To help improve and develop the school's facilities. In recent years the Friends purchases for the school have included cricket nets, a thermal imaging camera, enhanced lighting for the drama and dance studios, colours for the combined cadet force, recording a CD of the School’s music, a play area for the Pre-Prep School, seating for Dyne House Terrace and Chapel Choir robes.
  • To provide travel bursaries for senior pupils to enable them to undertake educational projects abroad and in the United Kingdom. In future it is intended that projects with a philanthropic element will be given priority, including visits to work in Highgate’s partner schools in Uganda and Sri Lanka.
  • To maintain the Books of Remembrance in Chapel.
