Parents’ Associations

There are two parents' associations at Highgate – the Highgate School Parents’ Association (HSPA) for the Senior School and the Highgate Pre-Prep and Junior Schools Parents' Association for the other two parts of the Foundation. They share broadly similar aims and organise a wide range of social and charity fund-raising events.

Highgate School Parents' Association (Senior School)

All parents/guardians of pupils in the Senior School are members of the HSPA. Our objective is to support the school in all its endeavours and to harness the skill base of the parent body to help achieve this aim through educational, cultural and social events.

Officers are elected bi-annually, and there are periodic meetings which all are welcome to attend. Come early as we leave time for drinks and conversation before business!

HSPA Pastoral Discussion Evening for Parents in Y7-9

The HSPA and a number of Y10 parents hosted a discussion evening for parents in Y7 – 9 on the 14th June in the School’s Dining Hall. Around 50 parents participated in an informative evening of presentations and discussion groups, while enjoying a sociable chat and a glass of wine. Conversation flowed on several of the topics covered by the School’s Pastoral Workshops last term, such as managing the teenage party scene. A handout from the evening and feedback from the discussion groups is attached here. The evening was deemed to be a great success by all and the HSPA will be organising similar events next year, 2010 – 2011. Keep an eye on the website and in your in-box for more details.

Volunteering and charity work

Highgate School and the parents’ associations in all three schools are developing a partnership around volunteering. The purpose of the partnership is to create a simple way for Highgate parents to find out more about volunteering to support organisations and charities in the local community.
