YEAR 1'S "ANCIENT EGYPT" PROJECT CULMINATED IN THEIR END OF YEAR PERFORMANCE "EGYPTIAN ESCAPADE"
This term, the Year One children chose to focus on the project ‘Ancient Egypt’. They went on an expedition, deep in the Valley of the Kings, and helped Howard Carter to excavate the tomb of the boy king, Tutankhamun.
The children painted their own beautiful Egyptian sunsets, learnt about gruesome and gory mummification rituals and collaged Queen Nefertiti's bust! They learnt how to create secret messages using hieroglyphs and learnt about the Egyptian number system.
They particularly enjoyed learning songs about the Sphinx and Tutankhamun for their end of year performance ‘Egyptian Escapade’. It was great fun learning to dance to 'Walk Like an Egyptian' too! Laura and Julie
