HIGHGATE DRAMA WENT TO THE FRINGE FESTIVAL IN EDINBURGH AND DREW LARGE AUDIENCES WITH THEIR PLAYS

A company of 16 actors from Highgate ventured up to Edinburgh to catch the buzz of the last week of the Fringe Festival. They performed two shows each day - a fast and furious version of The Comedy of Errors, and the intense two-hander Bunker Girls, by Mike Punter. Both plays drew large audiences and were very well received, and it was brilliant to see so many pupils, parents and teachers in Edinburgh to support the shows. The trip was also an experience for the cast of communal living, and pupils and teachers were also able to sample the delights of the festival - comedy, music and theatre. The shows performed under the banner of Raiser Theatre, the theatre company set up by the school to develop the talents of Highgate Drama pupils and to build partnerships with Drama students at other schools locally. At the end of the trip we bid farewell to many of the cast, who now move on to university, with several studying prestigious arts-related courses.  (Photo from an earlier performance at Highgate)
