A big dose of science
YEAR 7 WENT ON AN EXCITING DAY TRIP TO THE SCIENCE MUSEUM THIS WEEK
This term Year 7 have been studying the topic of space in their Science lessons. We have been looking at concepts related to the planets, asteroids and comets within our solar system, stars, galaxies and the origins of the universe.
All students have also been working on an individual project to research more deeply into a specific area that they are particularly interested in, such as investigating Jupiter’s moons or black holes.
As part of this work, all of Year 7 visited the Science Museum this week and had a fantastic day out.
We visited the Wonderlab gallery, which has over 50 hands-on exhibits, from building bridges to hearing music through your teeth! We also watched ‘A Beautiful Planet’ in 3D at the IMAX screen, which showed life on the International Space Station and what we can learn about Earth from looking down at our planet as a moving astronomical moving body. In the afternoon we visited the exploring space galleries, finding out more about objects such as the Apollo 10 capsule which took three astronauts to orbit around the moon in 1969. Student also took the time to find information to include in their individual projects.
A great day was had by all! ER
