Y10 and Y12 Germanists in the city of Hanover
AN EVENTFUL WEEK WAS HAD BY Y10 AND Y12 GERMANISTS WHEN THEY VISITED HANOVER DURING THE EASTER BREAK
During the Easter holiday Germanists from Y10 and Y12 spent a week with host families in the city of Hanover. Their exchange partners attend St. Ursula-Schule and there were several opportunities to sample life in a Gymnasium (German grammar school) with an earlier-than-usual start to the school day! The Highgate students also enjoyed excursions to Hamburg (including visits to the Elbphilharmonie and Miniatur Wunderland in the Speicherstadt district) and to Volkswagen's Autostadt in Wolfsburg.
The return leg of the exchange is scheduled for June when we will endeavour to reciprocate the generous Gastfreundschaft extended to us by St. Ursula staff and students. Fingers crossed (and thumbs pressed) the football World Cup won't present a potentially 'loyalty testing' Germany versus England clash!
