Artefacts Workshop

Year 6 pupils took part in an inspirational Art workshop based on African artefacts with the aim of learning to appreciate the cultural heritage and traditions of others and the role and purpose of craftspeople from a different culture. The objectives of the day - promoting creativity, exploring art and design, investigating textiles, printing, sculpture and applying a variety of techniques and materials were met with enthusiasm and informed enquiry from the pupils.

Art and Craft techniques such as Adinkra printing; Kente weaving; clay pot, mask and jewellery making as well as batiking were practised enthusiastically on the day. Thanks to Laura Robertson for the enriching experience. VN
