Butterfly World

In September, both Reception classes visited Butterfly World near St Albans. They walked through the gardens, designed in the shape of a giant caterpillar, and admired a great variety of flowers on display. There was a sculpture of a huge ant on a hill surrounded by a field full of wildflowers to attract native butterflies, but most impressive of all was the butterfly house with tropical butterflies which fluttered around the children, showing off their beautiful colours. The children also enjoyed a lesson about the life cycle of a butterfly and studied a number of rather large caterpillars and interesting looking stick insects. It was an inspirational and great day out.  TM
