Charity Fitness
On Friday 30 April, Junior School children were treated to a special assembly from GB Hurdler, William Sharman. William is the 5th fastest British 110m hurdler of all time, following his 4th place finish at the World Championships in Berlin in August 2009. He is currently training for the London Olympics in 2012, as well as the Commonwealth Games this October. Despite these commitments, William took time out from his busy schedule to talk to the whole school about his training and to run fitness activities with each class.

The challenge has been arranged as a two-fold charitable initiative. Money raised will go partly towards the GB Athletes training and partly to our school in Uganda. Both Sports-4-All and Highgate Junior School very much appreciate the positive and enthusiastic response of parents and pupils.

Sponsorship forms are still available from the school office. Funds and forms are due in by Tuesday 11th May at the latest. Pupils who raise between £5 and £29 will receive a photograph of William Sharman, and those who raise in excess of £30 will receive a signed poster. In addition, the class which raises the most will receive classroom resources from Encyclopaedia Britannica Kids.

This initiative was a great opportunity for the school to support GB Athletes in preparation for London 2012 and our pupils really enjoyed taking part. MH
