Chemistry Competition

Two teams of AS Chemists travelled to the University of Greenwich in Chatham to compete in the RSC Analytical Chemistry Competition 2010. The young chemists had to use classical chemical tests to identify unknown compounds and then create and interpret UV/Vis spectra to calculate an unknown solution concentration. Their results were judged by academics and of the fourteen schools in attendance the Highgate 'A' team were narrowly beaten into third place by Charterhouse and Hampton. This was an excellent result and the pupils found the trip both interesting and rewarding.  ARD
