Chemistry Lecture

A group of 18 Year 12 Chemists accompanied by three members of the Chemistry Department attended the annual Daniell Lecture, organised by UCL. This year's talk was given by Professor Al-Khalili of Surrey University, best known for his television programmes including the recent series "Chemistry: A Volatile History". Everyone found the fascinating talk on the advances in chemistry between the 8th and 14th centuries to be surprisingly interesting, providing a totally new perspective on many concepts that are now taken for granted. History and Chemistry were combined in a rich cultural experience.  ARD
