Collegium Musicum in Finals

Collegium Musicum to perform Bach's Brandenberg Concerto No.3 in the National Finals of the Festival of Music for Youth at Symphony Hall, Birmingham.

On the last day of the Lent Term Highgate's newly formed Collegium Musicum, an orchestra that plays baroque music using authentic bows, took part in the Regional Heats of the National Festival of Music for Youth at the London Symphony Orchestra's prestigious new rehearsal/concert hall, St Lukes at Old Street. The ensemble played extremely well and the adjudicators were very impressed with the high standard of technique and musicianship displayed. As a result, the ensemble has now been invited to take part in the National Festival. This event is a showcase for all the very best ensembles from the Regional Heats giving the participants the opportunity to play in one of the World's finest concert acoustics. This is an outstanding achievement and fitting reward for the hours of hard work that this ensemble have put into rehearsing.  JPM
