Enrichment Day

On Tuesday 30 June, the Junior School had their first Enrichment Day, with the normal timetable suspended and the children taking part in extended activities unrelated to the academic curriculum. This was done in the hope of giving the children an exciting experience, to encourage curiosity and foster creativity whilst working with different teachers and pupils from across the Junior School. The intention was for the children to develop a greater depth of knowledge about a certain topic, to achieve a higher level of skill in a particular area or just experience something new and exciting whilst reinforcing the school as a community to which they belong. The activities were chosen by the individual teachers, who had been given free range to pursue and pass on their enthusiasm for a particular area.

There were 16 different activities on the day, ranging from recreating works of famous artists, collage work and fashion-design using recycled materials, miniature doll’s house making, design technology Olympics, literary and poetry workshops, contemporary and retro music sessions, new outdoor games designed by the students, line-dancing, a performance of abridged Bugsy Malone and many others.

This highly successful event was established and organized by Josie Latimer and will be repeated next term.  VN
