French Exchange

Year 10 French Exchange to Paris: Easter 2010

The return leg of the Highgate–Jean Baptise Say Year 10 French Exchange arrived in Paris on the Friday evening after a relatively easy journey – although certain pupils managed to lose a wallet and glasses. We were greeted enthusiastically by the French partners and whisked off to a weekend of fun: some pupils got the full open top bus tour of Paris, whereas others enjoyed Disneyland. The remainder of the week was spent visiting the numerous sights around Paris: the Louvre. Musée d’Orsay, Tour Eiffel, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame and on the final day the wonderful Palais de Versailles. We also had time for a England v France bowling match – easily won by Max Brighouse. This year for the first time girls joined the exchange – well done Lauren and Sophia! – and although the weather was not as good as it could have been, the group kept their spirits high, got stuck in, were a pleasure to be abroad with and did not add to Mr Brunskill’s collection of grey hairs. It is hoped that the pupils will keep in contact and that through this the pupils’ knowledge of French language and culture will continue to improve. My thanks go to Ophélie Hardoin who was an enthusiastic, patient and extremely helpful accompagnatrice.  SNB
