Harvest Celebration

On Friday 15th October the Pre-Prep had their Harvest Festival Celebration. The children started proceedings by singing “Hooray for Harvest”. Each year group had written their own poem to perform during the celebration. The Nursery children were unfazed by their first stage experience and began with their poem, followed by an enthusiastic rendition of “Big Red Combine Harvester”. Then Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 took it in turns to recite the poems they had learnt, remembering actions and expression. Each year group sang their songs beautifully too.

Mr John Grant from the Muswell Hill Soup Kitchen congratulated the children on their marvellous performances and thanked them for all the food they had donated. He also took time to talk to the children about how his soup kitchen helps those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Our Harvest Celebration ended with the pupils and parents all joining in with “We’re Here to Celebrate Harvest”, a song written by Mrs Hickey to the tune “We’re Off to see the Wizard”.  Sadly Mrs Hickey was unwell and unable to attend our Harvest Celebration. We would like to thank Mr Chapman for stepping in at the last minute and accompanying the children’s singing.  SF
