The ‘Japan In Your Classroom’ scheme has been running since 1991 and continues to be one of the core activities of The Japan Society. Under the scheme, Japanese volunteers visit primary and secondary schools to introduce aspects of Japanese life and culture, thus adding a multi-cultural dimension to teaching. Volunteers come equipped with a range of authentic Japanese artefacts, reflecting traditional and modern aspects of everyday life.

Amongst a multitude of educational activities children enjoyed doing calligraphy and origami but the definite favourite was practising the art of Kendo.

Thank you to Fiona Lewis for organizing such an informative and multi-faceted workshop.  VN
