Japanese Workshop

It has become a tradition for Year 6 pupils to get a glimpse into aspects of multi-faceted Japanese culture and associated paraphernalia in an interactive workshop run by The Japan Society.

The primary aim of the workshop was to introduce aspects of Japanese life and culture and share Japan-related skills, thus adding a multi-cultural dimension and first-hand experience of Japanese culture to the curriculum. The experienced workshop leaders came equipped with a range of authentic Japanese artefacts - reflecting traditional and modern aspects of everyday life - and showcased some uses of the aforementioned tools and devices with some pupil involvement.

Amongst many educational activities children enjoyed doing calligraphy, origami and practising the art of Kendo. Thank you to Mrs Lewis for organizing such an informative workshop.  VN
