JS Music Day

We rehearsed in The Richards Centre and at the end of the day the Strings Section and the Wind and Brass Sections joined and put their parts together. We then went across to St Michael’s School to perform in front of our parents.

First the Strings played a piece called Tourdion, rehearsed to a high standard by Miss Philips, and Papageno’s Song (from the Magic Flute) under the baton of Mr Murphy. Then the Flutes, with Mrs Speed, played Do Re Mi from ‘The Sound of Music’, and Oom Pah Pah from ‘Oliver’. Finally, the Wind and Brass played Oh Bla Di, Oh Bla Da, directed by Mr Hanson.

JS Music Day

I think it was a great opportunity for everyone because it is hard to play in an orchestra, rehearse pieces for only one day and then perform them to everyone. I particularly liked mixing and playing music with another school. The atmosphere was very exciting. I really enjoyed it.  Georgina Salter (6C)
