London Eye Visit
On Tuesday 9 March, Year 5 pupils had a chance to further explore their Geography unit on ‘Cityscapes’ by going on the London Eye. The purpose of the trip – besides the obvious enjoyment of this fantastic facility London has got to offer – was to look at the horizon across the capital and the urban designs concerning the arrangement, appearance and functionality of London. Pupils cast a critical eye on the shaping and uses of urban public space and how urban domain is being utilized with increasing demand for space to further develop public infrastructure.
The trip offered an excellent platform for the pupils to familiarize themselves with a conceptualised design practice that operates at the intersection of urban planning and landscape architecture as well as urban economics, political economy and social theory. A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all and organized by Mr Allan. VN
