Make a Play Day

On Wednesday 4 November, Year 5 children participated in an inspirational workshop called ‘Make a Play’. In just one day the pupils put on a sensational performance based on Kenneth Grahame’s all-time classic, Wind in the Willows.

The limited period of time allocated to rehearsals and the actual performance gave the pupils an immense amount of freedom and inspiration. As the visiting teacher/director chose the children for particular roles, they had no idea who would be best for a role, making it a random choice. This meant that anyone could be chosen and pupils, who would not usually be comfortable as, or seen as performers, became ones. They may not have performed the role exactly as expected, but did it in their own way, adding their own touches to it, which is return, boosted subtly their confidence without any added pressure.

The children became confident learners in the process, not afraid to have a go; and a fun, action-packed show was shared and enjoyed by all. Thank you to Ms Stokes for making it all possible.  VN
