Pat Bagnall Trophy

Highgate retained the Pat Bagnall cross-country trophy for the third consecutive year, beating opposition from Mill Hill, Wellington, Epsom and St John's Leatherhead. In the first race, the open girls, Loly Rapley (U11) produced an outstanding performance to come second, beating girls several years older than her. Alice Elwood and Hannah Jilani ran well, coming 4th and 5th respectively. In the junior boys, Charles Katz-Summercorn was unlucky to be pipped to the line, finishing with a bronze medal. Immediately behind him were team regulars Sam Willis and Josh O’Neill.

The intermediate and senior boys had to endure 3 full laps of an extended course. The race started very quickly and Luke Ames-Blackaby ran extremely well to win the intermediate boys, with twin brother Josh coming 3rd. A mention should also be given to the Patch twins for both coming in the top six having played football for the school in the morning. Michael Allan-Dan ran solidly to come third in the seniors while Hugh Larkin finished in the top 10. Highgate won the team prize in every age group so well done to all who competed and hopefully next year the event will return to the Heath for even more picturesque surroundings. M Allan-Dan
