Pre-Prep Goes Green
On Tuesday of Go Green Week it was the Pre-Prep’s day to walk to school. All the children tried to walk to school, or park a little further away than usual and walk the rest of the way. During their walk to school the children had to think about what they could see and hear. Each child then completed a ‘Walk to School Diary’ which they then shared with their class. The children liked sharing their observations, such as, birds tweeting, police sirens, leaves turning red and yellow and spotting conkers.

During the week each class chose and agreed a Green promise that they would try to keep throughout this academic year. Each class then shared their Green promises with the rest of the school during Friday’s assembly. These promises included, turning off the lights in the classroom when there is no one in the room, remembering to turn the taps off after they have washed their hands and remembering to recycle paper at school.

The most popular activity of the week also involved recycling. On Friday afternoon the children used the items they had brought from home for junk modelling! The children’s imaginations let them transform cereal boxes, yoghurt pots, cardboard tubes and plastic bottles into binoculars, monsters and spaceships. SF
