Pre-Prep Science
What a fun Science Week we had at the Pre-Prep! As our topic this term is Famous & Important People, we spent a week celebrating Einstein's birthday. It all began with a visit from Mr Smith, Head of Physics in the Senior School and some of the Sixth Formers. They astonished and excited the children with an assembly and workshops creating electricity, blowing up marshmallows and firing rockets.
On Tuesday we had an explosive presentation by Dr Szydlo, our Senior School Chemistry teacher! The children were fascinated to learn more about Einstein as a child and watch carefully to see the sound of a violin change the colour of liquid!
Later that day, The Real Science of the Circus visited us to hold workshops. James Soper is a Guinness World Record Holder for juggling and taught us all about forces through circus skills. We were amazed to see him on top of his huge unicycle!
Throughout the week the children took part in party themed investigations using bubbles, balloons, flowers and food. On Thursday, we had a visit from Bubblz the Science Clown and had some fun with a Giant Bubble Show, water bombs and balloon rockets!
Einstein’s birthday would not be complete without a Science Party and was rounded off with a Birthday assembly on Friday. What a busy week! Happy Birthday Einstein! Miss O'Flaherty
