Royal Society Lecture

A large group of A Level Biology pupils enjoyed a fascinating lecture on Stem cells and Regenerative Medicine by Prof Sir Ian Wilmut at the Royal Society. All the pupils had previously studied Prof Wilmut’s work on the cloning of Dolly the sheep and it was an experience for them to hear an eminent scientist lecture on the latest strategies of manipulating adult cells for research and therapy. Prof Wilmut has kindly presented the school with a signed book ‘After Dolly’ and autographed his ground breaking research paper ‘Viable offspring derived from fetal and adult mammalian cells’ which appeared in Nature in 1997.  JCYW
