TGM Remembered

A service of thanksgiving for the life and work of Theodore Mallinson, TD, MA was held on Thursday 19 March at St Michael’s Church, Highgate.

Theodore Mallinson’s distinguished service to Highgate School began with his appointment to the staff in 1939. Long after his retirement in 1972, and into his hundredth year, he continued to serve the School as President of the Friends of Highgate School Society, archivist, record keeper and roving ambassador.

The School’s Chaplain, the Reverend Paul Knight, officiated and the School’s former Chaplain, the Reverend Peter Stone, led the prayers.

A Memorial Canticle, composed for the occasion by John Rutter CBE (OC), was performed by the Highgate School Chapel Choir and Girls’ Choir, conducted by Mr Lionel Steuart Fothringham, Director of Music. The lessons were read by Dr Andrew Szydlo and Hugh Lindsey and tributes were paid by his daughter, Mrs Priscilla Ormerod, Professor Ross Kessel, Air Vice Marshal Barry Newton CB CVO OBE, and the Chairman of the Governing Body, John Mills CBE.
