The Collection
On Thursday 25 and Tuesday 31 March the first cohort of A Level Theatre Studies pupils at Highgate performed their examination piece to an audience of staff, friends and family.

Cassie Campbell, Harry Kitchen, Peter Reeves and Gregg Sulkin did great justice to the work of the late Harold Pinter in one of his earlier plays, The Collection. The play explores the way in which human beings exploit and manipulate each other and, a recurring theme in Pinter’s work, the notion that we often fail to communicate effectively, intentionally or otherwise.

It is a challenging piece - not least with all those pauses that have to be delivered so accurately – but the cast worked hard to perfect their characters. Using some of the theories of Stanislavski’s psycho technique explored during the first half of the course, the cast sought to inhabit their roles fully and express their emotions truthfully.
