Theodore Mallinson

Many of you will have already heard the sad news of the death of Theodore Mallinson, at the age of 99, on Saturday, October 11th. An obituary was published in the Daily Telegraph of Tuesday 15th October. An obituary by former Head Master, Richard Kennedy, has been placed with The Times.

In his obituary for the Telegraph, Nick Comfort (SH 1959) wrote of how Theodore personified the spirit of the School.

A Memorial Service for the life and work of Theodore will be held at St Michael's Church, Highgate on Thursday, 19th March at 2.30 pm. Arrangements will be sent out later.

A Book of Condolence has been opened, and if you would like to contribute to this, please write to Viv Toulman at the Foundation Office, Highgate School, North Road, Highgate, London N6 4AY. Email: oc@highgateschool.org.uk

Letters of condolence can be sent to Theodore’s daughter, Priscilla Ormerod at: 5, Waterloo Drive, Banbury, Oxon. OX16 3QN.

The Winter issue of The Cholmeleian, which we expect to be published in November, will carry Richard Kennedy’s obituary of Theodore.

Simon Appleton and Michael Hammerson will be working to produce a special tribute edition of The Cholmeleian. This will be sold for a charge to cover costs, and we hope it will be available in the New Year.
