Visiting Chemists

Pupils from Haverstock School in Year 12 visited the Chemistry Department yesterday to participate in a workshop focusing on practical skills in organic chemistry. Together with a group of Highgate pupils they extracted limonene from orange peel and investigated its reactions, structure and spectroscopic characteristics. The day provided an excellent forum for discussion amongst the pupils about UCAS, universities and schools in general as well as some extra-curricular chemistry.  ARD
