Highgate sport can be proud of some notable achievements in the past week with success at national level.

In Cross-Country Luke Ames Blackaby and Molly Patch competed admirably at the English Schools Cross Country Championships where a field of over 500 of the very best runners took to the start line. Molly finished a very creditable 200th in the Girls race and continues to demonstrate huge potential, whilst Luke finished in a hugely impressive 11th position. This run has seen him selected for the England Cross-Country squad, a tremendous achievement.

In Eton Fives the Senior Boys pair of Sam Little and Harry Hatchwell battled courageously to record a 3-2 win over Eton in the Open Final; in the under 14 final the talented pair of Joe Berriman and Charlie Noble added this title to the under 13 championship that they had won earlier in the week. A facile 3-0 win over St Olave's augurs well for next year.

The football season draws to a close this weekend with the four senior teams in action versus the Old Cholmeleians. After a superb season hopes are high for a 1st XI win, whilst the 2nd XI hope to be buoyed by a victory in the Middlesex Cup Final on Monday. On Sunday at Craven Cottage, Fulham, recent leaver Max Little will play in the Varsity Football match; a collective group of staff and pupils will be present to cheer him on.

There was also success in swimming, the victory over Charter School rounding off a very succesful season for the U12/13/14 Girls and Boys teams. Training hard over two terms has resulted in much success for the sqauad with only two defeats all season.

Fencing comes to the fore this week with the Public School's Championships taking place at Nottingham University; hopes are high for Highgate with Max Woollard amongst the leading contenders.  SE
