Y3 British Library Visit
Year 3 pupils took an underground journey to Euston, to explore the extensive premises of the architecturally renowned British Library. The tour of the building was followed by two experimental workshops, entitled ‘Explore the World’s Knowledge’ and ‘ Map Your World’, aiming to examine how research is carried out to explore the development of the written word and how knowledge is stored and used, as well as to explore maps – not simply as geographic tools but also as historical documents. Through practical activities and creative research, pupils uncovered how these layers of meaning made an impact on the creation of maps and what they represent.
The pupils’ exemplary behaviour and enthusiastic participation was well-received by both the general public and the workshop leaders. VN
