June 2010

Geography Society Photographic Competition: The competition is open to all pupils in the Senior School. The Subject: Geography is the study of the human and physical environment and how people interact with their environment, and each other. Pupils are to consider the scope of Geography in their entries, this may be a physical or human subject, or one that offers a sense of place. More abstract entries will be considered, as long as their geographical content can be justified by the photographer. Submitting a photo: There is a maximum of 5 entries per person. The photo must be submitted as a hard copy, no larger than A4. Each photo must have your name, year group, house and a title for the image, or at least the name of the place. Entries must be submitted, as a hard copy, to Mr Brandt or Miss Sherbrooke by Friday 10 September, the end of the first week of term. The winning photos will exhibited in the Mills Centre from the 4-21 October. If chosen for the exhibition, a soft copy will be requested and subsequently blown up, possibly larger than A4, this should be considered when formatting the photo and pixels used. There will be a prize for the best entry in Year 7 and 8, Middle School and the Sixth Form. For any queries email rosie.sherbrooke@highgateschool.org.uk or dan.brandt@highgateschool.org.uk
