Highgate Museum Official Opening   
The School’s Museum in the Tabernacle opens its doors for the first time. All those who have donated £20.15 or more to the Museum Crowdfunding Campaign were invited.

FEBRUARY

Thursday 5 February        
450 Guest Recital - Winterreise, Franz Schubert. Matthew Rose, bass and Gary Matthewman, piano
Grammy Award-winning British bass Matthew Rose appears regularly in the leading opera houses of the world, and released a critically-acclaimed recording of Schubert’s Winterreise in 2013. Matthew Rose will be accompanied by Gary Matthewman, one of the UK's leading song pianists.
All proceeds from ticket sales will go towards the Music Lesson Bursary Fund.

Monday 23 February
7pm in the Dyne House Auditorium, we are excited to be hosting an evening of Formula 1 with some very well-known racing guests. We will be delighted to welcome to the School the legendary TV commentator Murray Walker OBE (OC) together with four times World Champion F1 team principal and local Highgate resident Christian Horner OBE in conversation with the BBC Formula 1 Correspondent and Highgate parent James Allen.

450 Years of Music and Dance, Sports Hall
A gala evening of music and dance involving 50 pupils from years 7 to 13 who will sing and dance their way through the ages, showcasing a cross-section of the music that has developed across the world from the foundation of Highgate School to the present day.

Wednesday 22 April
450 Lecture - Martin Hewitt: From Parachutes to Polar Expeditions
Martin Hewitt was a Parachute Regiment and later Pathfinder Captain who was injured in Afghanistan. He then went on to make the record books several times as Captain of the Combined Services Disabled Ski Team. He has represented the military and Great Britain ski racing at the highest international levels. Martin was also part of the Walking With The Wounded (WWTW) North Pole team who successfully trekked to the geographic North Pole in April 2011. In addition he has just re-entered the record books as the first disabled person ever to reach the summit of Mt Manaslu (8162m). He also managed the WWTW Everest Team and is currently working a project to climb the 7 highest peaks on the 7 continents and walk unsupported to the North and South poles.
We are pleased to be able to welcome Martin to talk about his experiences, the challenges he has faced and the great things he has achieved.

Monday 27 April
450 Lecture - Jake Meyers: Reaching New Heights
At 14 Jake decided he was going to be the youngest person to climb the highest peak on each continent. He summited his first, Kilimanjaro, aged 15 with his father. By 21 he had summited Everest via the difficult North Col route and achieved his goal. Jake went on to complete the fastest ascent of the 48 highest peaks in North America with a team in 2005. Jake has a passion for the beautiful and fragile mountainous environments he has visited around the world. This promises to be an engaging and fascinating talk that anyone who has ever enjoyed or has an interest the mountain environment will find interesting.

450 Lunch, Merchant Taylors’ Hall
St Paul’s is our setting for the official commemoration of 450 years since the School’s foundation. The service is followed by a Champagne reception and lunch at Merchant Taylors’ Hall for OCs and their guests.

Sunday 17 May
Lord’s Taverners vs Highgate Cricket Match
2pm Highgate School Senior Field
On the afternoon of Sunday 17 May, a team of Highgate recent leavers and OCs will take on the Lord’s Taverners, in what is sure to be an action packed afternoon of cricket. The Lord’s Taverners team will be made up of a mix of ex-cricketers and celebrities, so standards will be high and the School will be hoping for lots of supporters to come and cheer on the home team! This will be an afternoon of family fun, with food and refreshments available from various stalls. Alternatively, you may wish to bring along a picnic and bask in what we hope will be a sunny May Day. Alongside the main cricket match, we will be running fun cricket coaching sessions and there will be a chance for pictures with the stars of the Lord’s Taverners team.
All proceeds from ticket sales will go to The Lord’s Taverners Charity, which is the UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity dedicated to giving disadvantaged and disabled young people a sporting chance.

450 Photography Exhibition 
In a celebration of all things Highgate, long-serving teacher Andrew Szydlo‘s photography exhibition perfectly captures his 40 years of teaching here at the School. A keen photographer, Andrew’s huge collection of images offers a snap-snot into life at Highgate through recent decades and documents the dramatic changes to the School throughout these years.

Thursday 24 September
450 Lecture - ‘Heart of Europe? England and the Continent in the Tudor Age’
We are delighted to welcome eminent Historian, and leading expert on Europe during the Reformation, Professor Andrew Pettegree, of the University of St. Andrews. In a break from the conventional Anglo-centric analysis of the period, Professor Pettegree will provide an exciting insight into the Tudor era, by examining England’s relationship with its European neighbours during this turbulent and transformational period of history.

Monday 5 October         
“Space - what we have learnt since 1565”
Lecture by Professor John Zarnecki OC. 
In this era of probes landing on comets and ground-breaking films about wormholes, the subject of space and our place in it has never been more relevant. This lecture will be given by Professor John Zarnecki OC, winner of the 2005 Sir Arthur Clarke Award and currently team leader on the 2016 ExoMars mission, and with involvement in the recent successful Rosetta mission and the Huygens probe that landed on the surface of Titan.
Professor Zarnecki's lecture will reflect on 450 years of speculation and exploration, from what we knew about the stars in the time of Sir Roger Cholmeley to where we are now, and where we might be in 50 or even 450 years' time.
