The Sunday Times Schools Guide
Highgate School was named London Independent School of the Decade by The Sunday Times Schools Guide for 2021. Most recently, in their 2026 Guide, we were proud to feature amongst the Top 20 independent schools in the country.
TES Awards
We were delighted to be selected as Senior School of the Year at the 2020 TES Independent School of the Year Awards, as well as picking up their overall award for Independent School of the Year. In their review, judges praised Highgate as “a safe, happy and exciting place that provides a nurturing and friendly environment that encourages academic excellence and personal development.”
Independent School of the Year Awards
In 2019, Highgate received the award for Contribution to Social Mobility at the Independent School of the Year Awards for our partnership with London Academy of Excellence Tottenham. Highgate also won their overall award for Independent School of the Year for “outstanding contribution to student experience in their own school and beyond.”
The Week Independent Schools Guide
In The Week Independent School’s Guide to the best schools in the UK, Highgate was delighted to win the category Best for Pupil Voice in the Autumn/Winter 2025 issue. Earlier in the year, Highgate Junior School was chosen as Best for School Partnerships, and runner up in the Best for Kindness category.
Sustainability Awards
In June 2024, Highgate was presented with the Supporting Sustainability accolade at the Education Choices Awards, and in Autumn 2022, we were selected by The Week Independent Schools Guide ‘Best of the Best’ feature, for Inspiring Green Initiatives.
Design and Technology Award
Highgate’s Design, Technology and Engineering Team received the Outstanding Departmental Team trophy at the 2023 Design and Technology Association Excellence Awards. This busy and popular department works with pupils from 4 to 18 years old, igniting their creativity and problem-solving skills to develop and make prototypes/products that solve real world problems.
Careers and Employability Excellence
In August 2020, Highgate won Careers and Employability Programme of 2020-21 from Rate My Apprenticeship Awards. Judges acknowledged Highgate’s focus on helping pupils to develop vital, transferable employability skills, along with specialist careers advice to help pupils harness their individual skills and interests for life beyond school.
