Entrance exams

The first part of the assessment consists of tests with candidates sitting papers in English and Mathematics. We understand how nervous some pupils will be so we endeavour to make the day as fun and stress-free as possible.

To help your family prepare for the tests, here is a 7+ sample test paper for English and one for Mathematics.

We also request a confidential report from your child’s current head teacher.

Interviews

A significant proportion of our candidates are invited back to our second round, Interview & Activity Day.

Pupils will attend a taster lesson and group interviews. As well as allowing us to get to know your child further, it also enables them to have a taste of school life and to learn more about our School.

Successful candidates

The outcomes of our assessments are sent on a date agreed with other schools – this will be towards the end of January.

Successful candidates are asked respond to any offer by early February.

Some candidates who narrowly missed out on the offer of a place are placed on a ‘reserve’ list which remains active for the rest of the academic year.

Welcoming parents and pupils
June 2024

During the summer term, our new pupils attend an induction afternoon to see our School, and meet their new classmates and their teacher. Parents are invited to a welcome evening to give you the information you need for starting at Highgate.
