On Wednesday 15th November 2017 Reception went on their first ever school trip! This term we have been learning about ‘Colour and Light’ and as part of this project we learnt about Bonfire Night, fireworks and why we celebrate this event. The children travelled back in time to 1605 to learn about Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot.

They learnt about what it was like to live in that time. They found out about daily routines, the food they ate and played with some of the toys children would have had then. Some children even dressed up as servants, helping to cook the goose and clean the kitchen. The children learnt about the lantern that Guy Fawkes had with him under the Houses of Parliament and they made their own lanterns too. They learnt about how people wrote letters then and had a chance to make their own quill. The pupils were thoroughly amused by the two-person theatre show that brought the historic figures and events to life on stage. They particularly enjoyed taking part in this and reenacting what might have happened if Guy Fawkes had succeeded in blowing up the Houses of Parliament. Reception thoroughly enjoyed their first educational visit and they look forward to more in the future!
