On Saturday 16 March, Highgate pupils performed at Pizza Express Jazz Club, in SoHo, in front of a large group of family and friends.

Following morning sound checks, all musicians and performers were provided with delicious pizza and a drink to fuel us for the busy afternoon to come. The ambience in the basement was electric as the show kicked off with our youngest performers, our Junior School Jazz Group. Senior School pupils followed, entertaining family and friends whilst they dined.

The Highgate talent was wide and varied, ranging from soulful singers to large ensembles with many different instruments. And the audience appreciation was clear for all to see, with plentiful applause and whoops of joy!

As musicians and performers it was an exciting affair, providing an invaluable experience in performing live. Since 1976, the Pizza Express Jazz Club, in the very heart of Soho, has presented thousands of world class musicians in its intimate basement setting.

Our thanks go to our incredibly talented jazz teacher, Mr Canniere, for all his time and effort in organising such a fantastic event.   Hannah, Y7
