Chamber music at Highgate is flourishing, with our groups enjoying unprecedented competition success and performing music of the highest quality.
As previously reported, Highgate was recently awarded the coveted Founder’s Trophy in recognition of our contribution to the Pro Corda Schools Chamber Music Festival. For this national festival, two Senior School groups and a Junior School group successfully progressed to the semi-final at Wimbledon School. All responded impressively to high-level masterclass-style feedback and coaching from the Pro Corda team, then performed fantastically in the final round at Queen’s College London.
Our Senior School pupils have since had success in the South East Schools Chamber Music Festival. Here our Under-16 group was invited to perform in a Finalists’ Concert at NLCS, while our Under-18 group performed in the Finalists’ Concert at St John’s Smith Square. In addition, four Highgate groups took part in the South East Schools Chamber Music Festival, giving imaginative, committed performances.
Commenting on this recent success, piano teacher, Mr Andrusier, said: ‘Chamber music at Highgate continues to go from strength to strength. Each chamber group shows dedication and artistic creativity with pupils working together to communicate an expressive shared narrative. Congratulations to all!’
