On Wednesday 25 June, Highgate and the London Schools Eco-Network will be hosting its fourth environmentally-themed CPD day for environmental educators across London and the South East.

The day will consist of a series of talks and discussions on key themes in environmental education at secondary school level. The keynote presentation will be delivered by Dr Kris De Meyer, Director of the UCL Climate Action Unit and a neuroscientist at King’s College, London. There will also be presentations by Jenny Brown, Head of City of London School for Girls, Paul Edmond, Chief Finance and Sustainability Officer at Heart Academies Trust, and representatives of the Climate Ambassadors Programme and The National Education Nature Park.

Participants from last year’s event enthused about the valuable opportunity to collaborate with like-minded peers, saying how “networking and meeting people from the various organisations and schools is really useful.” Another attendee agreed, noting, “it was great to hear from professionals in the field and gain ideas from other schools,” with someone else adding “I feel much more confident in dealing with the challenges I face in the coming year.”

Gabriel Roberts, Head of Environmental Sustainability at Highgate, commented: “We’re thrilled to be hosting a fourth environmental CPD day in collaboration with the London Schools Eco-Network. The event has been growing from year to year and is now a highlight of the year for environmental educators in the area. We’re looking forward to hearing about the projects and initiatives that attendees have been working on since last year and welcoming new educators to the community.”
