On Thursday 13 December, our Pre-Prep children treated a packed Junior School hall to their Christmas Show.
Santa’s elves were in a panic as their boss had disappeared just before Christmas, their busiest time of the year! The six elves went on a journey to find him. The Arctic explorers thought they saw him heading on a plane to London, then two pilots at Heathrow thought he’d gone to Highgate Pre-Prep but he wasn’t there. One of the teachers there suggested he might have gone on holiday so the elves had an idea that he might have gone to Australia as it’s hot at this time of year.
A sheep down under remembered a story, passed down by her ancestors, that a man fitting Santa’s description had been seen at a place called Bethlehem about 2,000 years ago. With the help of the enthusiastic audience, they managed to go back in time to Bethlehem and there he was! He had gone to remind himself about the true meaning of Christmas. Santa had witnessed the Nativity scene with Mary, Joseph, The Wise Men, Angels and Shepherds!
The Year 1 actors performed their speaking roles brilliantly. They were supported by the rest of the school as singing arctic explorers, holidaymakers, partying nursery children and Australian sheep farmers!
The final ensemble song, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, got everyone in a festive mood with the audience joining in the reprise with gusto! CS
