Having got through the first round of the annual House Drama Competiton, where all twelve houses competed to a very high standard, Eastgate, Kingsgate, The Lodge and Northgate made it through to the finals on Wednesday 28 November. Peter Broad, former Director of Drama at Eton, adjudicated.

After a tough decision-making process, he awarded Northgate the winners with their interpretation of the play, Enron. He had this to say about their performance: ‘A terrific ensemble – each characterisation sharp and well defined – and some inventive lighting. The choreography of the fight scene was outstanding and the coordination of the light sabre sequence compelling. A very strong central performance and a sense of everyone onstage enjoying the contribution they were making to the whole. Staging was always apt and appropriate, and an exceptionally well-disciplined cast. Bravo to all!’

He also named Lochie Springett and Maddy Hilditch for their outstanding performances in The Lodge’s version of One for the Road by Harold Pinter. Well done to all those involved in the whole competition. It was, as always, the highlight of the Drama Department’s year.          JF
