Last week, Highgate’s Year 12 A level Politics group enjoyed a tour of the Houses of Parliament, kindly arranged by our School’s local MP, Catherine West. Our sixth formers walked through the voting lobbies, stood at the Prime Minister’s dispatch box in the House of Commons, and congregated in Central Lobby, where the media interviews MPs.

Our sixth formers also enjoyed a Q&A with Bambos Charalambous, Labour MP for Enfield Southgate. A range of questions were asked from whether cycle lanes in his constituency were a waste of taxpayer money, what he felt about Extinction Rebellion, and if he could justify voting to revoke Article 50.

The trip was a great experience for our sixth formers, many of whom had never been inside the Houses of Parliament before.
