Before half term, the entire Highgate School community – pupils from the Pre-Prep to Sixth Form, teachers, catering staff and office teams – took part in the school’s biennial sponsored walk.

Led by our community and partnerships team to raise money for local, national and international charities, everyone was encouraged to don their walking shoes and head to the nearby Hampstead Heath, for an invigorating day of exercise and community bonding.

Together we covered about 31,000 kilometres, raising over £42,000 for the five charities chosen by our pupils: Designability (Pre-Prep), North London Action for the Homeless (Junior School), Cool Earth (Lower School), Shelter (Middle School) and British Red Cross (Sixth Form). It was wonderful to see so many cheery faces on the Heath enjoying the beautiful autumn scenes and each other’s company, all for a range of good causes.

Louise Shelley, Senior Deputy Head, enthused: “Highgate’s 2025 biennial sponsored walk was a terrific community effort and it reminded me how lucky we are to have the Heath on our doorstep.  A huge thank you to all of the walkers and to all of the sponsors.  In addition to the vital funds raised for the pupils’ charities, we collected an incredible 2000+ boxes of cereal for Food Bank Aid’s Breakfast Champions campaign.
