Joining our Pre-Prep at 4+

In September 2025, we look forward to welcoming 60 new children into our Pre-Prep. Places available are for those born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021. 

If we have more applications than we have spaces in our first round assessment, these will be allocated randomly – please see our admissions policy for details.

We are very much looking forward to meeting you at our main Open Event on Saturday 21 September 2024, in the morning.

Open Events are an opportunity to get to know the school better and include:

      • A tour of the facilities, classrooms and outdoor spaces.
      • Talks and Q&A with our Principal.
      • A chance to meet some some of our key staff and Admissions team.

Bookings for this event will open in Summer 2024 and be open to those families looking at 2025 entry only.

 

Applications

Applications are now closed for 2024

Applications for 4+ entry in September 2024 closed on Friday 29 September and are for children born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020.

Shortlisting of Applications

All applications are reviewed in detail during October.

Unfortunately we are not always able to offer assessments to all applicants due to having more applicants than assessment slots available.

Candidates not shortlisted will be notified by mid October. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to the first round of assessments and asked to pay the application fee by the same date.

Assessments

The first round of assessments are expected to take place in November.

We will email at the beginning of December to advise of the result of the first round.

Subsequently, some candidates are invited to a second assessment. These are expected to happen in January 2025. This follows the same format but explores children’s understanding and capabilities in greater depth.

Successful candidates

The outcome of our assessments will be sent to families in late January 2025.

Successful candidates must respond to the offer by early February 2025.

Some candidates who narrowly missed out on the offer of a place are informed they are on a ‘reserve’ list which remains active for the rest of the academic year.

A warm welcome

During the summer term, our new pupils attend a taster session to see our School, meet their teacher and new classmates. Parents are invited to a welcome evening to provide the information needed for starting at Highgate.

There are also ‘Stay and Sing’ sessions and a family picnic to help our new pupils feel comfortable and excited about starting school.

Pupils join Reception in September, with a staggered initial settling in process.
