Joining Highgate

3+ and 4+ entry

September 2020 will see our last intake of 3+ pupils and applications are now closed. From September 2021, there will be places at 4+ (Reception) entry for approximately 20 pupils (boys and girls) to join the 40 children progressing from our final 3+ Nursery class. From September 2022, around 60 children will be able to join at 4+ (Reception).

Our Pre-Prep is heavily over-subscribed and we are unfortunately unable to see all the children who make an application for assessment.

Shortlisting of Applications 4+
November 2020

All applications are reviewed, with shortlisted candidates invited to the first round of assessments in January and asked to pay the application fee. Candidates not shortlisted are also notified.

Assessments 4+
January 2021

The first round of assessments takes place in early January. Candidates are seen in small groups for an informal play session of around an hour.

Subsequently, shortlisted candidates are invited to a second assessment later in January. This follows the same format but explores children’s understanding and capabilities in greater depth.

Successful candidates 4+
Early February 2021

The outcome of our assessments are sent. In view of their existing relationship, parents of applicants with siblings currently in our Pre-Prep may be asked to meet our Principal and Head of Admissions before results are released. Regrettably, we are unable to provide feedback to other candidates.

Successful candidates must respond to any offer within a week.

Some candidates who narrowly missed out, due to the numbers of places available, are placed on a ‘reserve’ list which remains active for the rest of the academic year. We offer places to ‘reserve’ candidates should the appropriate number of offers not be accepted.
