Joining our Pre-Prep at 4+

In September 2023, we look forward to welcoming 60 new children into our Pre-Prep. Places available are for those born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019.

If we have more applications than we have spaces in our first round assessment, assessments will be allocated randomly: please see our admissions policy for details.

Below we have outlined the admissions process step by step. If you’d like to read about the aims and ethos of the school, you can do so here.

Applications for 4+ entry in September 2023 will be for children born between 1 September 2018 and 31 August 2019. Applications will open on Monday 12 September 2022 at 9am and close on Friday 30 September 2022 at noon.

Please take time to read our 4+ Admissions Policy for more details on our assessment criteria and process before completing your online application form.

Shortlisting of Applications 4+

All applications are reviewed in detail during October.

Unfortunately we are not always able to offer assessments to all applicants due to having more applicants than assessment slots available.

Candidates not shortlisted will be notified by mid October. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to the first round of assessments and asked to pay the application fee by the same date.

The first round of assessments are expected to take place between Monday 31 October and Friday 11 November 2022.

We will email at the beginning of December to advise the result of the first round.

Subsequently, some candidates are invited to a second assessment. These are expected to be between Tuesday 10 and Thursday 19 January 2023. This follows the same format but explores children’s understanding and capabilities in greater depth.

Early February

The outcome of our assessments will be sent on Monday 30 January 2023.

Successful candidates must respond to any offer by noon on Wednesday 8 February 2023.

Some candidates who narrowly missed out on the offer of a place are placed on a ‘reserve’ list which remains active for the rest of the academic year.

A warm welcome

Our EYFS team visits new pupils at home or in their current childcare setting during the Summer term. There are taster visits to our Reception classes, ‘Stay and Sing’ sessions, and a family picnic to help our new pupils feel comfortable and excited about starting at Highgate.

Pupils join Reception in September, with a staggered initial settling in process.
