Joining our Pre-Prep at 4+

In September 2022, we look forward to welcoming 60 new children into our Pre-Prep. Places available are for those born between 1 September 2017 and 31 August 2018.

Applications are now closed for 2022 entry.

If we have more applications than we have spaces in our first round assessment, assessments will be allocated randomly: please see our admissions policy for details.

Below we have outlined the admissions process step by step. Jane Figini is our 4+ Admissions officer; do not hesitate to call or email her if you have any questions about the process. If you’d like to read about the aims and ethos of the school, you can do so here.

Visit Us 2022 Entry details

We have run a series of open events this term to enable you to learn more about our Pre-Prep:

Please note that we are aware of pressure on Open Event places and hope you can visit us, but it is not a pre-requisite to visit before applying.

  • A morning tour of the Pre-Prep on Saturday 25 September 2021 with opportunities to meet and question senior Pre-Prep staff.
  • An event in early October.
  • An additional zoom event if you have not been able visit for applicants invited to the second assessment.
  • An in person tour or online talk and Q&A with the senior team for offer holders (subject to covid).

Due to Covid restrictions, these events are limited to applicants for 2022 only. Events for 2023 entrants will be published in the Spring.

Shortlisting of Applications 4+

All applications are reviewed in detail during October.

Unfortunately we are not always able to offer assessments to all applicants due to having more applicants than assessment slots available.

Candidates not shortlisted will also be notified by 22 October. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to the first round of assessments and asked to pay the application fee by the same date.

Assessments

The first round of assessments takes place on weekdays between Monday 1 November to Friday 12 November.

We will email at the end of November to advise the result of the first round

Subsequently, some candidates are invited to a second assessment on a weekday between Wednesday 5 January and Tuesday 18 January 2022.  This follows the same format but explores children’s understanding and capabilities in greater depth.

Successful candidates 4+
Early February

The outcome of our assessments are sent on a date agreed with other schools – this will be Monday 31 January 2022.

Successful candidates must respond to any offer by Wednesday 9 February at noon.

Some candidates who narrowly missed out on the offer of a place are placed on a ‘reserve’ list which remains active for the rest of the academic year.

A warm welcome

Our EYFS team visits new pupils at home or in their current childcare setting during the Summer term. There are taster visits to our Reception classes, ‘Stay and Sing’ sessions, and a family picnic to help our new pupils feel comfortable and excited about starting at Highgate.

Pupils join Reception in September, with a staggered initial settling in process.
