Highgate’s Computing Department equips pupils for the technological innovations of the future. Our teaching develops the skills and understanding of computing, together with the practical experience of solving problems using computer algorithms.
Pupils have compulsory Computing lessons at KS3, using a range of computer programming languages to teach computational thinking concepts. From Year 10, we offer Computer Science GCSE with pupils learning how to write proficient code in the Python computing language and examples of other programming languages. Pupils will discover how computers work and how they become more powerful through their connections with networks and the internet. We provide opportunities for collaborative teamwork through national programming competitions, with considerable success achieved in recent years.
A Level Computer Science is a practical and rigorous course where our sixth formers apply academic principles to real-world systems, preparing them for further study and employment as active participants in the digital world.
