Travelling to us

Highgate encourages sustainable travel

By bicycle or foot

We encourage pupils to walk, cycle (or scoot) to school to promote less congestion in the area and greener local air! We have plenty of bike and scooter storage at all school sites, and arrange tutorial sessions with pupils to keep their modes of transport safe and in good working order. Bishopswood Road has a designated cycle area marked out for secure access to the Junior and Pre-prep Schools.

By Highgate School bus

We offer a school bus service for our Junior and Senior School pupils which has cut approximately 120,000 individual car journeys to and from our School.

Five School bus routes are operated independently for Highgate Senior and Junior School pupils, and each vehicle is tracked, allowing parents to see its location via their PC or smartphone.

For the academic year 2023/2024, we added routes from Bayswater, Kensington & Manor House. This has resulted in nearly 10% of pupils using the School bus service. There is further route expansion being planning for the 2024/2025 academic year. Please download our Transport Brochure for more information on the Highgate School Bus Services.

TfL Travel for Life is an accreditation programme that offers a series of educational programmes to schools and education settings across London. The goal is to increase active and sustainable travel options when travelling to and from school, reduce car use and improve safety. Highgate are proud to have been awarded gold accreditation.

For Senior School appointments, a parking space can sometimes be reserved, on request, inside our School gates on North Road.
