Sport

We offer a range of sporting opportunities and facilities, plus a unique curriculum and approach to training, to all our pupils.

From the age of 4 to 18, all at Highgate are taught sports and exercise by specialist coaches and teachers to ensure a high quality experience. Our 23 acres of green space and playing fields are complemented by facilities at Mallinson Sports, gym, 25 metre indoor pool, courts for squash, tennis and Eton Fives, dance studio, an all-weather pitch, cricket nets, and our location next to Hampstead Heath.

PARTCIPATION

Our sport and exercise curriculum aims to maximise participation, promote enjoyment and ensure progression. Sport (one afternoon per week) and Exercise (a double period in Years 7 to 10) are integrated to ensure you develop skills and strength relevant to the sport which, from Year 8, you choose.

ACHIEVEMENT

The success of our sports programme is reflected in our results with high performing athletes – Highgate currently has 14 pupils competing at national level and 37 at county level – and amongst our many pupils who simply enjoy playing a sport and keeping fit.

Sports facilities

Astro Turf

Our AstroTurf is available as a full size hockey pitch or football pitch or as 12 netball courts and tennis courts.

Swimming Pool

Our 25 metre swimming pool was fully refurbished in 2019 and reopened in early 2020. The pool features digital score screens and viewing bays for water sports matches.
