Coronavirus Update

11+ entry

In 2022, there will be places for approximately 80 pupils (boys and girls) to join around 105 Junior School pupils, moving into Year 7 in our Senior School.

Please note all dates are provisional and subject to change.

Key dates for 11+ entry in 2022

Open Days: To be confirmed for Autumn 2021 Please note: open days will be restricted to parents of child applying for 2022 entry only. This is to manage numbers in view of COVID-19. We ask you not to register if your child is below the age for Year 7 entry in 2022 and we look forward to welcoming you closer to your child’s entry point.
Applications are now open application deadline: Wednesday 10 November 2021 at 12noon.
Bursary award application deadline: Wednesday 10 November 2021 at 12noon.
Deadline for submitting additional documents (e.g. Educational Psychologist report, Music Award applications): Wednesday 10 November 2021 at 12noon.
Application fee: £150 (£300 if tests sat abroad)
11+ entrance examination: Monday 6 December 2021
11+ activities and interview dates: Monday 17 to Friday 21 January 2022
Offer letters sent: Friday 11 February 2022
Acceptance deadline: Early March 2022

We are currently reviewing the events we are able to plan for the Autumn, and very much look forward to meeting you as soon as we are able.

We held some virtual talks and Q&A with the Head and/or Senior staff in the Summer term.

We expect to be able to announce more Summer term events very soon, so please do check back in early June. Alternatively, please click here to leave your details so we can notify you when more events are available to book.

Please review our admissions policy, and complete and submit your application by this date, including your application fee. All applications are acknowledged and we will keep you advised on forthcoming events. Applications for 2022 are now open, and will close on 10 November.

Bursary applicants with a gross household income of under £30,000 are not required to pay the registration fee. You will be able to select this option on the application form. For further information, please contact: bursaryoffice@highgateschool.org.uk.

Entrance exams
Monday 6 December 2021

Candidates sit tests at Highgate, with papers in English, Mathematics and reasoning. Our English paper reflects the National Curriculum KS2. Our Mathematics paper is designed so no specific syllabus or preparation is desirable or necessary.

We also request a confidential reference from your child’s head teacher.

11+ sample test papers are available: English B, C and D plus Mathematics A, B and C. Answers for Mathematics B are here and English D are here.

Interviews
Monday 17 – Friday 21 January 2022

A significant proportion of our candidates are invited back for activities and interviews. This usually consists of a group interview and taster lesson(s), and is a great opportunity to learn more about our School.

Successful candidates
Thursday 10 February 2022

Our offer letters are posted to successful candidates, with an email sent the following day.

Events for children holding offers and their families will take place during the week commencing 22 February.

Responses must be received by early March, with a deposit payable on accepting a place.

Highgate does make more offers than there are places available, so as swift a response as possible is advised.

Welcoming parents and pupils
June 2022

Moving to secondary school is a major change. Our Head of Lower School, Head of Year 7 and team of experienced tutors ensure this transition is as smooth as possible through a variety of events for new pupils and their families.

Team building
August 2022, before the start of term

All our Year 7 pupils visit an activity centre for a day of team-building and group activities, to assist with the formation of friendships and getting to know the staff.
